On February 26, 2026, the Pan African Consortium of Experts (PACE) organized, in the premises of the Platform of Non-State Actors (PFANE), a political dialogue dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its challenges in Senegal.

Organized in partnership with Niyel, as part of the Initiative for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Francophone Africa (IDIA), with the support of IDRC and UK International Development, this meeting aimed to strengthen the active participation of civil society in the development and implementation of policies related to AI and digital.

The exchanges focused on four major areas:

  • Digital governance, data and democratic issues;
  • AI and ethics in scientific research;
  • AI, Security of sensitive data, and human rights;
  • AI, task systematization, employment and employability.

This dialogue has led to the emergence of practical recommendations for responsible, inclusive, and ethical governance of Artificial Intelligence in Senegal.

Through this initiative, PACE reaffirms its commitment to creating spaces for strategic consultation where researchers and specialists, decision-makers and civil society engage in dialogue to build evidence-based and human-centred public policies.
